Do you have a touch of Spring Fever? Are you ready to break out and put winter behind you? Spring is finally here, and all of us at The Home Company are looking for ways to celebrate the season of renewed life. We’ve compiled this list of the top 5 spring activities in Omaha, to give you some inspiration.
#1. The Omaha Children’s Museum is ready to entertain and excite kids of all ages—that means parents and grandparents, too!. “Forever Forest“ is there until April 16. This interactive exhibit playfully teaches visitors about sustainability, selective harvesting, and forest life. There’s even a kid-sized home under construction where children can take part in building.
“Block Party“ remains a must-see exhibit at the Omaha Children’s Museum, but you must see it by May 1. Use giant LEGO blocks and Magna tiles to design and build whatever your imagination comes up with. There’s a LEGO race track and an Earthquake Test Table to see how your creation stands up to this natural occurrence.
#2. “The Color Purple“ is on stage at the Omaha Community Playhouse through March 27. The Pulitzer Prize-winning Alice Walker novel comes to life in this coming-of-age tale. At nearly a century of supporting culture in the region, the Omaha Community Playhouse is one of the largest non-profit community theaters in the country.
#3. The Spring Festival, An Arts and Crafts Affair takes over the Liberty Credit Union Arena March 25 through 27. Wander through aisle after aisle as you browse the creative works of artists and artisans. Find a special treasure to take home with you or find something that sparks your own creativity!
#4. Wonders Under Glass is on display at Lauritzen Gardens through May 8. This amazing display features the vibrant glass artwork of Omaha native Matthew Shrader, with paper artwork by the Gardens’ staff members, and nature photography by Chris Helzer. You’ll be amazed at the details and artistry captured in this indoor garden exhibit.
#5. Beer lovers unite at the 17th Annual BockFest on April 2. See what’s hopping in the Crescent Moon’s outdoor biergarten. Bock beers will be flowing, along with a tempting array of German food. The lively sounds of polka music will get you in the spirit from noon to 9 p.m.
